Frankincense Oil Resin also known as Olibanum & Lubaan is a high quality, perfume grade, essential oil distillation of fine Boswellia Sacra solid resin. This super thick oil is Steam Distilled using a method that produces a very viscous end result. It has a sweet, woody scent with warm balsamic, aroma and has a heritage/old note. 

Common super cheap oils/resin that are sold as frankincense are actually derived from benzoin which is a totally different plant (Genus Styrax). This is not true Frankincense and is usually with 1/10th the price of good Frankincense resin. We find it hard to see how frankincense can be sold by some sellers for less that $10 per 3ml knowing the current market rates.

Frankincense is tapped from the scraggly but hardy trees by striping (slashing the bark) and letting the exuded resin bleed out and harden. The hardened streaks of resin are called tears. Several species and varieties of frankincense trees each produce a slightly different type of resin. Differences in soil and climate create even more diversity of the resin, even within the same species.
