Ruh Khus Perfume Oil

Growing up in Sydney one of my favourite times was the summer afternoons, after very hot days, we use to wait for the westerly thunderstorm to come through and cool down the day. This storm used to occur almost at the same time every afternoon, something that does not happen as regularly any more.

Once the storm arrived there would be 10 minutes where the temperature would drop dramatically, the wind would pick up and the rain/thunderstorm would begin. There would be a very distinct smell in the air when the rain started to hit the ground. This is what Ruh Khus reminds me of.

Pure Perfume Grade Vetiver Oil also known as Ruh Khus in the Middle East & Sub Contenant. Vetiver Oil is also known as the Oil of Tranquility due to its soothing and calming effect on the body and mind which is known to assist with insomnia and getting a better nights sleep. It has a beautiful thick, Emerald GREEN colour, with a deep wet earth after rain, minty and mossy scent that is known to stick, linger and project for hours. Can assist with insomnia and getting a better nights sleep.

Vetiver Oil is a natural essential oil that is produced by the process of hydro distillation of the roots of the Vetiver grass. This 100% pure oil is steam distilled in copper pots the traditional way which gives it its emerald green colour. The process of extraction is very intricate and intensive resulting in a low yield, making it a highly sought after essential oil. As with Oud, if stored properly, Vetiver will only get better as it ages. 

This Oil has amazing longevity lasting 12 hours on skin and 2 days on fabric at least. 

The scientific name of the plant from which this Vetiver Oil Green is extracted is Vetiveria Zizanioides, commonly found in Northern India. This is a tall, tough, wiry and perennial grass that grows wild and in bunches and is not cultivated like the other Vetiver in the same family. The harvesting time is October when the Monsoon season is over because the roots need to dry on the ground before they are harvested.

This is the only pure Vetiver oil that we have found that we feel is suitable to be sold as a perfume. Don’t purchase Vetiver cheaper essential oils expecting to have the Ruh Khus effect. Vetiver is a fragrance that is like nothing else and some people find themselves a little shocked, we recommend first time users to get a 1ml sample first and also to allow some time for it to grow on you as it has that effect.
